If you’re not a blogger, you’re probably totally unaware of all the stupid behind the scenes stuff we bloggers do to make your time at our online homes easier. And we’re not supposed to talk about it either because, hello? Non-bloggers don’t care.
And that’s fine and dandy with me because I AM a blogger and I really don’t care much either.
Except…
I need you to do two things for me.
{One}
Google Reader is going away. Like uh now. I have been dreading it and putting it off, but I’m going to switch to Feedly even though I’ve been burying my head in the sand and pretending that my BELOVED ‘Next’ button isn’t going away.
WHY GOOGLE??? WHYYYYY do you torture me so?
A lot of you aren’t giant procrastinating punks like myself and I’ve noticed day by day y’all are moving and subscribing differently. BUT, there are 347 of you still subscribed through Google Reader and that is going to be a problem starting July 1st because it’s going to leave faster than a trophy wife when her sugar daddy goes broke. So, switch your stuff or subscribe via email.
And if you didn’t know you can subscribe and get posts sent to your email or your Reader as long as it isn’t Google Reader, you can and it’s totally FREE. You go ahead and click that little button too.
{Two}
If you’re one of the 800 or so {898 but who is counting?} Facebook peeps that I love and ask stupid questions of and chat with daily, you can ensure you’re getting all updates in your news feed by doing one simple thing that takes like 3 seconds.
Now. Can we please get to more important stuff like the fact that I’m going to have to ban Finn from the new Scooby Doo because, hello? SHAGGY AND VELMA are dating? And they have cell phones and computers?
Weird and disturbing.
I have to admit when I first heard Google Reader was going away I was worried. What the heck Google, how am I going to keep up with all my important news? I switched to Feedly--after trying a couple of others--and I love it. I like it way more than Reader. Takes a little bit to get comfortable with it but before long you will forget all about Reader!!!
ReplyDeleteI too was super sad to hear about Google Reader going away, but I switched to Bloglovin, and I actually like it much better because you can leave a comment without having to click away.
ReplyDeleteThere is a new Scooby Doo? Dating? Cell Phones? Couples should not work together when trying to solve crimes. LOL
ReplyDeleteI think technically I'm still subscribed through Google Reader but that will change when it goes away. Feedly keeps telling me that I've done what I need to do, but it still worries me for July 1.
ReplyDeleteIf I gave Feedly access to my Google/Google Reader Acct, are all of the blogs going to still show up once Google Reader goes away? Do I need to explicitly add each blog into Feedly?
ReplyDeleteI went to feedly too and it's okay but I def miss reader. Either I don't know how to use feedly properly or it's a pain because it doesn't group them by what blog they are, it's just one feed of jumble.
ReplyDeleteWait, what?! Shaggy and Velma with cell phones?? Say it isn't so!
ReplyDeleteFred & Daphne are dating. Velma & Shaggy are "shagging"... but the worst was when Velma told Shaggy to choose, "me or the dog!" I was done.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I use bloglovin', complete with next button!
