Loose.

19 September 2012

His tooth is loose.  I mean, ok, he’s five and a half, it’s bound to happen, but right after school starts?  It’s like the universe is just pounding it into my head that he’s growing up.

I can’t be the only parent shell shocked by this stuff.  Tell me I’m not the only one!  And maybe by the time it gets around for her to go through it, I’ll have already been there and it won’t seem like such a damn blow.

For now though, I’m going to wallow that he is growing up.  My baby.

So, uh, how much do teeth go for these days?

A ridiculous amount. We gave $5 for the first one and thought it was great. She cried. Apparently, some of her friends received $20. Wth?! Oh well. Since then, the tooth fairy leaves $1 or something small (nail polish, key chain, etc). Good luck!! That tooth fairy is tricky business.

Don't make the mistake my mother made when I was a kid. As she tells the story, we were at my girl scouts meeting the day after my tooth fell out and I was bragging to everyone about how much money I got for my tooth. The parents were also bitching with each other about that jerk parent who gave out $20 for one tooth. Cue my mother's realization face that she gave me $20 instead of $1 since she did her tooth fairy-ing without her glasses that morning.

I don't know, with inflation maybe teeth are really $20 a piece now!

Dude - my kids are gonna get a buck and a bag of carrots. (We will also be telling them that being the Tooth Fairy is the Easter Bunny's night gig.)

You know what I am going to do? Either a $1 coin or a $2 bill. It's both affordable and unique. How cool would it be to have a $2 bill? And I'm an adult. Nice blog Michelle.

I think the $1 coin is a great idea... now I'll just have to remember to get some.

I was just thinking about this the other day...at what age do they lose teeth....and I was trying to remember, I guessed about 5 and then I was like...Oh Crap he will be 5 in just a few months....OMG?! How is he handling it? Is it freaking him out or does he think its cool?

so Idk if he lost his tooth yet, but she lost 2 teeth right before Disney. And since the tooth fairy is practical and realized that Ava would be spending money at Disney on her own crap (Ava's Disney fund), um, the tooth fairy paid $10/per tooth.

I highlighted the fact that these were her first teeth and probably the tooth fairy knew that she was saving money for Disney. My guess is next time like $3-5?
