Dave is leaving on a business trip this morning.
We usually do pretty well when he's gone. Aside from Finn asking me every fifteen minutes where his Daddy is and when he's coming home. That only gets annoying after the 38,268 th time.
We order pizza for dinner and generally live as if we're in a college frat house, but don't tell Dave. I like him to think we're toiling away here, cleaning the house, visiting museums, and doing things that upstanding citizens do.
Aunt Lyndsey is coming to stay with us these two nights just because she is the perfect partner in crime for our ill behavior. We're going to watch chick flicks too and eat chocolate covered oreos. I'll tell Dave we're eating our bumper crop of green beans, but really we'll just feed them to the neighborhood bunnies.
It's not going to be all fun and games. Finn's got his first soccer class for the fall session and guess who gets to take Daddy's place? I know absolutely nil about soccer for two and three year olds, but I'm pretty sure it's going to be scary. There is a reason that Daddy handles these things.
So what's up with your week?
Soccer for 2 and 3 year olds is hilarious. My niece played at that age, and basically, all the kids run around on the field picking daisies, hugging each other and stopping to get juice boxes from their moms, while the coaches attempt to herd them in the general direction of the goal. There is a ball rolling around in there as well, but everyone pretty much ignores it, until it accidentally crosses over the goal line.
ReplyDeleteThanks, now I can only think of chocolate-covered Oreos!!
ReplyDeleteCan I come over too?! Chocolate-covered oreos and chick flicks sound amazing!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with soccer! You'll be a natural!
This is such a cute and fun post! My nephew is coming to visit from St. Louis Saturday. I'm making fun plans for us. I haven't seen him for a few years.
ReplyDeleteMy husband doesn't go away too much, but we definitely relax the mood here when he does, too. Lots of kid food, sleeping wherever we feel like it, etc. It's fun for about a day and then we want him home! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteNothing here but getting ready for school.
What a cool mom, wish I could be there :)
ReplyDeleteGet the camera ready for soccer...
ahhh i'm so jealous I don't get to be there!! Have fun at soccer, Finna!
ReplyDeleteI believe, after seeing my four learn soccer, that soccer for that age mostly involves them running around in circles and after each other on the field. No ball is required for this pastime.
ReplyDeleteChocolate covered oreos? Mmmmm, can I come?
ReplyDeleteNo worries on the soccer - at that age, if they run the right directions, the day is a total success! :-)

Ahhh swarm ball is my favorite sport. Trust me as a girl who had to start a preschool soccer league not knowing ANYTHING about it as long as you keep the kids from kicking each other and no one is getting chased by a bee everything will be fine! ENJOY!
